Kitchen Remodel with Maple Cabinets and Hanstone Quartz Countertops

Our clients goals for her kitchen project were to modernize the look while adding storage.  In addition, she also required that all of the new fixtures and materials perform well but require very little maintenance.

To keep within a very tight budget in this Maplewood MN kitchen, our team decided to “pull and replace” the cabinets and countertops rather than perform a full gut and remodel.  Instead of fully custom cabinets, the maple cabinets for this project were ordered in standard sizes.  Our carpenters then modified the cabinets on-site to provide a more customized look.  This allowed our client to choose some handy accessories and storage options in order to maximize the small space without going over budget.  Some of these accessories included pull-out waste and recycling baskets, custom corner storage that is superior to a lazy susan, and pullout trays in the lower cabinets.

Hanstone quartz countertops were chosen due to their perfect balance of easy maintenance, durability, and cost.  A solid copper single-bowl sink really makes a statement.  The Moen faucet includes a pullout sprayer.  The backsplash is a vinyl tile that mimics the look of slate but with far less maintenance.

To keep within a tight budget, basic builders appliances were chosen.  Our client prefers handwashing her dishes, which eliminated the need for a dishwasher.  Luxury vinyl sheet flooring was chosen due to it’s good looks and easy maintenance.

In the end, we were able to accomplish all of our clients goals and then some.  While we would have preferred to update the electrical and plumbing, and add more lighting, these were not critical and were not important to our client.
