Our client wished for her powder room to become a full bathroom.  Our challenge was that there was no available interior space available.  In addition, the townhome association would not allow us to add-on or modify the exterior of the home.  After discussing a few options, our client decided to occupy part of the attached garage with her new bathroom.

Our design team worked to develop the structural plans necessary for adding on.  We also worked with the townhome association and the city inspection department to work up a design and plan that satisfied everyone.

Inside, the new addition houses a simple tub/shower combo unit and toilet.  A custom linen cabinet and vanity  are finished with custom black stain.  A low-maintenance quartz countertop sits atop the vanity.   The luxury vinyl sheet flooring mimics the look of slate tile.  Underneath it all, upgraded plumbing and electric mean that our client won’t need to worry about these systems failing down the line.  A new exhaust fan ensures that the new space remains fresh.

In the end, our clients 2-car garage became a 1-1/2 car garage.  This solution may not work for every client, but in this instance it accomplished our clients goals without sacrificing space that was important to her.

The transitional design is one that many folks aren’t familiar with.   Transitional design incorporates classic elements from the past, blended with modern designs and finishes.  This blended design is truly unique and fits our clients tastes perfectly.

This bathroom is quite tiny, so maximizing the limited space is key.  To provide storage without being invasive, a recessed medicine cabinet and recessed shampoo niche in the shower fit the bill.

Some of the classic elements in this bathroom include the tile and bathtub.  The more modern elements include the faucets and brass accents.  We custom built the walnut vanity based on a photo that our client found online.  The Cambria quartz countertop provided the marble look our client desired without the high maintenance of actual marble.

Behind the scenes, plumbing and electrical were updated for safety.  A bath fan was installed and vented to the outdoors.  In addition, the leaking window was replaced with glass block.

Our clients wish was simple:  More storage in their master bathroom.  After discussing numerous options and designs, our clients decided on the simplest plan, which was to remove the large and unused whirlpool tub and replace it with cabinets.  While this is not our flashiest project, it solved all of our clients problems within their budget.

The new linen cabinets were custom built out of oak to match the existing vanity.  A new porcelain tile floor will hold up great underfoot.  The new Corian countertop features a beautiful river rock pattern.  New faucets, paint, accessories, and lighting finished off the project.

This home in St Paul was built around 1910, and the home has maintained much of it’s original appearance and feel. Unfortunately, a previous owner decided to try to remodel the bathroom himself, and mixed in some modern styles along with classic details, without addressing numerous underlying plumbing and structural problems. Fear not friends, our design team did an amazing job in restoring this bathroom to a classic look that is more fitting to the home. Numerous structural problems were fixed along the way as well.

Our Inver Grove Heights client told us that she LOVES to take baths.  Regardless of what else we may do in this bathroom remodel, the bathtub needed to be the main focus.

Naturally, we gave her a wonderful deep soaker tub.

We also were able to enlarge the shower area, and accent it with a glass panel to let in more light and make it feel larger than it really is.

In addition, the Corian vanity top looks plain from a distance, but up close it actually seems to “move” depending on the viewing angle.

The porcelain floor tile mimics honed concrete.  Polymer grout was used to make cleaning and maintenance easier.

This bathroom posed a few challenges for our team.  Naturally, we were able to not only overcome them but in the process made a pretty nice bathroom.

This home was built around 1910, and was badly showing it’s age.  A water leak had badly damaged the walls and floor.  The floor had sagged significantly.  Our carpenters spent much time shoring up the existing floor joists and subfloor to flatten the floor and stiffen it up to reduce it’s “bounce.”  In addition, the walls were noticeably out of plumb and nowhere near square.

Once the framing was shored up, our plumber replaced some ancient lead piping and our electricians made safe work of replacing the old knob and tube wiring.

After these “behind the scenes” items were addressed, our team did a beautiful job in building a lovely bathroom.  One of the quirks of the space is a linen closet which was built into the back wall of the tub/shower.  After much discussion about how to protect this delicate area, our cabinet maker had the great idea of making the doors out of teak wood.  This wood has been used forever for building boats, so it certainly should hold up in a shower.

Other details include porcelain tile on the floor and space-saving fixtures to make the most of the very small footprint.

Our clients wish list was simple:  Easy to take care of, and comfortable to use.  Our design team came up with a great plan which includes heated tile floors, solid surface shower walls, and custom cabinets with Corian countertops.  The shower also includes a handshower and a diverter system to control where the water comes out.

This guest bathroom looks great and will hold up well to the use and abuse of house guests.  The highlight is the tiled shower, which includes porcelain tile in a textile-like pattern.  The vanity area includes a granite top with vessel sink and a custom mirror.  The floor also features porcelain tile.

This spa-like master bath gets used each day by our Inver Grove Heights clients, so it needs to look great as well as hold up to daily use.  Our design team did a great job in using warm-tones to really make this space feel welcoming.  A large tub is available for a relaxing soak.  The large shower is easy to clean and looks sleek.  His-and-hers sinks are topped with a custom mirror.

This main-level remodel included a full kitchen and bath remodel, as well as new flooring, doors, and other touches throughout the home.

KITCHEN

The hickory cabinets are the highlight of this kitchen.  They provide a rustic beauty that a modern painted cabinet just can’t match.  Naturally we included soft close doors and drawers, along with plenty of storage.  Corian solid surface countertops have a very subtle pattern that doesn’t compete with the hickory.  The ceramic tile backsplash is a unique style that our client really liked.  After removing the overhead soffits and gutting the room to the studs, our team completely updated the plumbing, wiring, and insulation before putting things back together again.  Our team also removed an old railing system that cramped the space.

BATHROOM

A giant soaking tub with Corian solid surface shower walls provides a comfortable place to relax.  Hickory cabinets and porcelain tile floor look great.  The wall between the bathroom and an adjacent bedroom was sound-proofed to allow one family member to sleep in while the other gets ready in the morning.

OTHER TOUCHES

The main level received a beautiful porcelain tile floor, which really ties the space together.  The old hollow core doors were replaced with solid-oak 4-panel doors.  Walls were painted with a beautiful matte finish from Hirshfields.  An additional bathroom received new fixtures.
